Bruckewell & Magnachip – Power Discretes

Bruckewell & Magnachip – Power Discretes

Bruckewell & Magnachip – Power Discretes: Bruckewell (Taiwan) and Magnachip (South Korea) are two strong partners for transistors, MOSFETs, diodes, IGBTs, and other power discretes.

The poor availability of components in recent years has demonstrated the advantages of approving more than one part for a specific function within a circuit. This is not always possible, but it can be considered in the area of power discretes. Both manufacturers offer standard products and parts for specific applications.

Bruckewell at a glance

Bruckewell was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Taiwan. The product portfolio ranges from standard diode types (e.g.  TVS) and bipolar transistors to Si– and SiC-MOSFETs or IGBTs. Bruckewell manufactures using Si-, SiC– und GaN processes, offering a wide selection of components for almost any power application.

In addition to classic power discretes, Bruckewell also offers specific products for certain applications, such as 40V MOSFET modules for power tools or hybrid switches for high currents, which combine the best of Si and SiC technology to achieve outstanding cost efficiency.

In addition to products in packages, it is also possible to purchase wafers for further processing.

The linked products represent only a small selection. In addition to products for industrial applications, automotive-qualified components, such as MOSFETs, are also available.

Magnachip at a glance

Magnachip emerged from Hynix in 1999 and is one of South Korea’s established power discrete suppliers. Magnachip also operates as a foundry in the mixed-signal, power, and analog sectors.

Magnachip has specialized primarily in MOSFETs and IGBTs for industrial and automotive applications.

The MOSFETs cover a voltage range from 12 V to 900 V. Between 200 V and 900 V, Magnachip relies on SJ MOSFETs, now in their Gen6 generation.

Classic 600 V products should also be mentioned as an example. As the requirements for processability and component size are increasing, 650 V in PDFN88 package is now also available – with optimized RDSON.

IGBTs are offered for 650 V and 1200 V and are designed for currents between 15 A and 550 A.

Overall, Magnachip is looking to implement cost-effective solutions in modern package types such as DFN3x3, DFN5x6, DFN8x8, TOLL, and M2PAK. Additional packages for improved heat dissipation are currently in development.
