Qorvo – QSPICE new simulation tool for RF and power electronic circuit designs

Qorvo – QSPICE new simulation tool for RF and power electronic circuit designs. Meet the new free of charge QSPICE software from QORVO! An improved SPICE derivative for your RF and power electronics circuits designed by Mike Engelhardt (developer of LTSPICE).

What’s SPICE?

SPICE is a well-known simulation environment used in board-level design. It helps to check the integrity of a circuit design and predicts its behavior under various operating conditions, including different currents, voltages, and temperatures. SPICE performs various analyses such as AC, DC, and noise analysis, among others. There are many free-to-use SPICE derivative software options. However, the right one for your application depends on the type of analysis to be performed, the complexity of the circuit, required models or components, among other factors. Additionally, some of them might offer better efficiency in performing simulations than others.

Why QSPICE from Qorvo?

QSPICE, developed by Qorvo, is an advanced SPICE simulator that contains improved basic elements of SPICE. Unlike some other SPICE derivatives, it offers mixed-signal simulation. This includes a large number of digital circuit networks to simulate RF circuits and systems with high power levels. In addition, models for Qorvo’s SiC power components are also integrated.

QSPICE is written in Intel object code, running as fast as any other computer program. Additionally, its flexibility allows users to write C++ or Verilog source code into native object code, enabling more complex simulations, including AI applications. Not to forget, the SPICE-based GUI is easy to understand and very intuitive, saving time for users to get started.

Some remarkable features and functions included in QSPICE

  • Improved efficiency, simulation time, and accuracy in SPICE basics. Notably, detailed transistor models are included for superior transistor-level simulation, enhanced error control, and a rearchitected timestep control.
  • QSPICE includes demo simulations such as ladder filters, audio amplifiers, switchboard power supply, and many others. These simulations encompass standard SPICE devices and additional special functions that are native elements in QSPICE.
  • Numerous models are included for various Qorvo power products, including Qorvo’s silicon carbide (SiC). Updates will also introduce many other models.
  • Users can create new models and import third-party models.
  • QSPICE is available for free commercial use for everyone.
