Qorvo – Intelligent Motor Controllers for Gardening Tools

Electric gardening tools can be found in almost every household these days. End users expect ever higher performance with longer battery life for smaller and lighter devices. With its highly integrated and extremely efficient Power Application Controllers® (PAC), Qorvo is making a major contribution to meeting these expectations.


Qorvo PACs are designed to control and drive BLDC motors. These SoCs integrate a programmable microcontroller, power management, gate drivers and analog front end in a small QFN package.



PACs designed for up to 160V are very suitable for low-voltage and high-voltage gardening tools with batteries up to 80V (e.g. battery driven lawn mowers). They integrate everything to build garden tools with complex control, monitoring and diagnostic requirements. Further they only need lowest standby current, which means consumers can immediately use their tools even after months of storage.


The Qorvo PAC portfolio has also devices with integrated DC/DC Controller for voltages up to 600V, making it ideal also for AC powered gardening tools.

  • Integrated 50 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M0 or 150 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M4F MCUs
  • Integrated, configurable power management up to 600 V supply input (supports buck and charge pump topologies)
  • Integrated high-side and low-side gate drivers
  • Ultra-low standby power consumption of 8 µA in hibernation mode
  • Flexible and configurable power and temperature monitoring to build a more reliable motor drive control system
  • Integrated 3 differential and 4 single-ended programmable gain amplifiers (PGAs) for voltage and current sensing
  • 12-bit 2.5Msps ADC with HW sequencer
  • Dedicated phase comparators for sensorless BLDC zero-crossing detection, to simplify external circuit and easy algorithm design
