Holtek – BH45B1525 advanced 24-bit ADC with integrated PGA

Holtek’s BH45B1525 is an advanced 24-bit ADC with integrated PGA and SINC Filter. This makes it suitable for use in a wide range of high accuracy measurement applications, such as products for weight measurement, pressure measurement, temperature measurement and so on. Its low power specification makes it also a perfect fit for battery powered applications.


ADC Features

The BH45B1525 is a four channel delta-sigma ADC. The channels are configured by twos for differential input. Depending on the data rate and PGA gain the effective number of bits (ENOB) can be as high as 22.8. The differential reference voltage needs to be supplied from an external reference source.

The ADC low noise and high common mode and power supply rejection.

To minimize the effects of temperature the integrated temperature sensor can be used to compensate the A/D converted data.

General Features

With its analog supply current of typically 1.35mA at 5V, gain up to 128x and a power down current lower than 1µA the BH45B1525 can be perfectly used in mobile devices powered by batteries.

The ADC IC integrates a high speed RC oscillator for its operation. However, an external MHz crystal oscillator can also be used.

For communication to the external host a SPI and I²C interface is implemented. Both share the same pins so one or the other can be used respectively.
