HOLTEK – Sub-1G FSK Transceiver BC3601 & BC3602

 

With the BC3601 and BC3602, Holtek offers very flexible radio transceivers. These devices operate in the licence-free ISM bands from 300MHz to 960MHz and are suitable for applications such as networked smart home devices, smart security products, vehicle immobilizers, industrial/agricultural controls and many other wireless bi-directional communi- cation products.

The BC3601 includes a fully integrated high-power programmable amplifier, frequency synthesizer, digital demodulation function and more, so it simplifying the peripheral circuit design significantly. The RF characteristics of the device comply with ETSI/FCC specifications. In operation with an supply voltage of 2.0V to 3.6V a programmable transmit power of up to +17dBm is available. Its receive sensitivity achieves up to -118dBm at a data rate of 2kbps. The maximum transmission rate can be set up to 250kbps. In addition, an ATR function (Auto-Transmit-Receive) and a high-precision low-power oscillator for the WOT (Wake-on-TX) and WOR (Wake-on-RX) functions is integrated.


SPI is available as a host interface.

For applications with increased power requirements, e.g. in the field of remote reading of smart meters or the applications already mentioned above, the BC3602 with its extended operating voltage range of 1.9V to 3.6V and a RX sensitivity of -120dBm is suitable. In RX mode a current consumption of only 4.2mA can be achieved at 433MHz. An ATR function is also integrated.

Both ICs are specified for use in the range -40°C to 85°C and are available in the space saving 3mm x 3mm QFN package.

In addition to the transceivers, Holtek also offers TRX products with an integrated microcontroller. Furthermore, there are transmit and receive only ICs and a product family for the use in the 2.4GHz band.
