Young Yak – With the right connection to the desired destination

With the beginning of the new quarter, Young Yak and Ineltek signed a Europe-wide distribution agreement with the aim of gaining further market share for connectors. Founded in 1990, Young Yak Enterprise Co. has established the production of high-quality data and power connectors. In addition to the main site in Taiwan, the company has established a second production site in Dongguan (China).

In general, Young Yak covers all types of connections: Wire-to-Wire, Wire-to-Board, Board-to-Board and IDC connector. In this article we focus on the wire-to-board possibilities.

Young Yak offers different sizes and shapes depending on the required application. Young Yak covers everything for data/signals (<=3A) as well as for power lines (>3A). The market-known types are represented, including JST, MX or RAST sockets and plugs.

Wire-to-Board: Signal Series

The pitch range starts at 1.0mm and goes up to 5.08mm. For this Young Yak offers its YY-1xx0 series.

On the left is the YY-1150 family in the JST EH series and on the right is the YY-1600 in the MX KK254 series. Both series can withstand up to 3A and have the option of 2 to 15 pins. The JST EH come in 2.50mm pin spacing and the YY-1600 family with 2.54mm spacing.

The specs of the YY-1150 family:

  • Current at 3A
  • Rated voltage: 250 V AC
  • Volume resistance: 20 mΩ Max.
  • Breakdown voltage: 800V AC / minute
  • Temperature range: -25 °C to +85 °C

The enclosure is equipped with two locking ramps that hold it securely to the head section.

Wire-to-Board: Power Series

If higher currents are required, we suggest the Power Series. Here the pitch distances are larger to guarantee a higher current flow. They start at 3.96mm and a maximum current of 5A and go up to 6.35mm pitch with a maximum current of 13A.

On the left is the YY-2500 family in the MX KK396 series and on the right is the YY-1600 in the JST VH series. Both series can withstand up to 5A. The YY-2500 comes with up to 20 pins, while the YY-2800 offers up to 12 pins. Both series have a 3.96mm pin spacing.

The specs of the YY-2500 family:

  • Current at 5A
  • Rated voltage: 250 V AC
  • Volume resistance: 20 mΩ Max.
  • Breakdown voltage: 1500V AC / minute
  • Temperature range: -25 °C to +85 °C

This YY-2500 family can be used for a variety of signal, power supply and output circuits in consumer and industrial electronic products. The design ensures that the pin headers maintain their position during the soldering process and guarantee proper alignment on the PCB.

Also worth mentioning is the RAST series from Young Yak. Here, again, different versions are available.

An overview of the YY-A2550 family:

  • Please find below an overview of the YY-A2550 family:
  • Rated current: 4A at 40°C / 2A at 105°C
  • Rated voltage: 32V AC / DC
  • Contact resistance: 10 mΩ Max.
  • Insulation resistance: 1,000 MΩ Min.
  • Dielectric strength: 1,400 V AC
  • Temperature range: -40 °C/+105 °C
