Nuvoton – M33 NuMicro Series

Nuvoton - M33 NuMicro Series

Nuvoton is expanding its MCU portfolio with the new NuMicro M33xx series, a high-performance 32-bit MCU family based on the Arm Cortex-M33 core.

It is designed for demanding embedded applications in industrial, IoT, smart-building, and energy infrastructure environments.

NuMicro Cortex M33 Series at a Glance

The NuMicro M33xx series operates at clock frequencies of up to 180 MHz and combines DSP instructions with a single-precision FPU for compute-intensive control tasks.

Integrated security mechanisms such as Arm TrustZone, Secure Boot, and Execute-Only Memory help protect firmware and your intellectual property.

For robust industrial applications, the series offers a standard operating temperature range of −40 to +105 °C, high ESD/EFT immunity, and Flash memory with ECC.

A wide range of interfaces including I3C, CAN FD, USB 2.0 High-Speed, SD Host, high-speed ADCs, flexible PWM units, and peripherals such as the Enhanced LED Light Strip Interface (ELLSI) for high-performance LED control enable versatile application options.

Nuvoton – M33 NuMicro Series: Cortex-M33 Platform for 3.3 and 5V Applications

Essentially, the platform comprises two sub-families, the M333x and M3351 series, addressing different operating voltage domains. As mentioned above, both families support an extended temperature range of −40 to +105 °C, as well as ESD HBM immunity of 4 kV and EFT immunity of 4.4 kV. Package options range from QFN33 (4 mm × 4 mm) to LQFP128 (14 mm × 14 mm).

The NuMicro M3331 Series is intended for 3.3 V designs that require high computing performance, compact memory integration, and robust industrial grade characteristics.

  • Arm Cortex-M33 with TrustZone, DSP instruction set, and single-precision FPU
  • Clock frequency of up to 180 MHz
  • 256 to 512 KB of ECC Flash and 96 to 320 KB of SRAM
  • High-speed ADC: 12-bit @ 4.2 Msps
  • USB Host OTG in M3334 Series
  • Operating voltage from 1.7 to 3.6 V
  • Normal run mode: 91 μA/MHz @ 25 °C / 3.3 V, with all peripherals disabled

Nuvoton MCU Portfolio

With the NuMicro M33xx family, Nuvoton closes the gap between its in-house Cortex-M0 and M23 MCU and its M4M55 Series and application specific M7 products for power conversion and motor control.

Free Keil licenses for the Arm Cortex portfolio, along with VS Code support using the Arm Compiler or GNU C Compiler, provide an excellent foundation for innovative designs. More about software and tools can be found here.

Nuvoton also supports HMI designs through emWin and LVGL. An overview is available hier.

Product support, including drivers, BSPs and example code, is available by OpenNuvoton on Github.

We would be pleased to provide personal support on Nuvoton’s extensive microcontroller portfolio to you as well as additional components and solutions. Contact us by phone or send us your enquiry directly here. Our team will get back to you as soon as possible.
