KEC & Ineltek – Power Semiconductors for Europe: Ineltek and KEC have signed a distribution agreement, giving customers in Europe direct access to KEC’s portfolio and to local technical support.
KEC is a Korean power semiconductor manufacturer and was founded in 1969 as Korea Electronic Corporation. Since then, the company has grown alongside the Korean electronics industry and focuses on non‑memory power semiconductors.
KEC is headquartered in Seoul, operates its own manufacturing facilities, and has been working closely with leading automotive and home appliance manufacturers for now five decades.
KEC Products at a glance
The portfolio is essentially divided into power discretes and integrated circuits.
Power‑Discretes
- MOSFETs: High‑voltage super‑junction and planar types up to 800 V, low‑voltage trench and SGT devices in the range from -60 V to 200 V, as well as S‑MOSFETs with integrated Zener diode (-30 V to 60 V)
- IGBTs: Trench NPT & field‑stop technology for various voltages from 400 V to 1200 V, with a focus on 650 V and 1200 V
- Diodes: Protection, switching, Zener, Schottky and ultra‑fast rectifier diodes
- Bipolar transistors: Standard BJTs, BRT types and Darlington transistors
In addition, KEC offers SiC diodes and SiC MOSFETs for demanding industrial and automotive applications. Many of KEC’s ICs and discretes are AEC‑Q qualified and therefore suitable for automotive use.
Applications and use cases
KEC primarily targets the automotive, industrial and consumer sectors. In vehicles, the components are used for example in on‑board power supplies, pumps, fans, climate control systems, chargers, ICCUs and infotainment systems. Industrial applications include PV inverters, server power supplies, UPS systems, welding equipment, motor inverters, automation and smart meters. In the consumer sector, KEC products can be found in air conditioners, induction hobs, cooker hoods, audio/video equipment as well as in mobile devices and their charging infrastructure.
