The MT6835 is a rotary position sensor IC based on advanced Anisotropic Magnetoresistive (AMR) technology.

It operates by detecting a rotating magnetic field in the X-Y sensor plane, producing two sinusoidal output signals that allow for the calculation of the absolute angle between the sensor and the magnetic field direction.

The MT6835 consists of a pair of AMR Wheatstone bridges, a signal processing ASIC circuit and it supports independent output interfaces including ABZ (ABI), UVW, PWM, and SPI. Some other remarkable features include:

High Speed Rotation

21-bit core resolution with a maximum rotation speed of up to 120,000 RPM

High Resolution & Fast Output – Optical Encoder Replacement

Supports incremental ABZ output with up to 16,384 pulses (65,536 steps) per revolution. Ideal for replacing optical encoders

Calibration Capabilities

Features automatic self-calibration at constant speed, correcting magnet and alignment errors without data interaction, reducing INL (Integral Non-Linearity) to ±0.07°, or down to ±0.02° using NLC (Non-Linearity Compensation) mode

Digital Interface

4-wire SPI interface for a host MCU to read digital absolute angle information from internal registers and to program the EEPROM

Stray Field Immunity & Mechanic Tolerance

Sensitive only to the magnetic field direction in the X-Y plane, with output independent of field strength, minimizing the effects of stray fields, air gap variations, and misalignment

Temperature Compensation

Built-in temperature compensation that minimizes the angle accuracy drift and reduces system speed fluctuations caused by temperature variations
