Advantech’s ROM-2620 is a Computer-on-Module based on the i.MX 8ULP platform comes in the Open Standard Module 1.1 (OSM) form factor. In addition to the main processor, PMIC, LPDDR4, eMMC, crystals & passive components for direct operation are already integrated on a 30mm x 30mm BGA carrier board for permanent soldering on a base board.

ROM-2620 OSM with i.MX8ULP in brief

The ROM-2620 from Advantech offers a perfect base for developments in which a complete circuit design with a microprocessor would cause too much time or cost. When using the ROM-2620 in the OSM 1.1 form factor, the actual device and software development of the application can be started directly.

An i.MX8ULP with Cortex-A35 dual-core is used as the main processor on this module. This can run at up to 1 GHz main clock. The Cortex-A35 has a 64-bit architecture and can be seen as the successor to the widely used Cortex-A7. This new core architecture offers up to 40% more performance. The additional Cortex-M33 core enables real-time and low-power scenarios.

1GB LPDDR4 DRAM and 16GB eMMC for the operating system are integrated as memory.

This entry-level processor module already offers a 2D/3D graphics accelerator (GC7000 nanoULTRA/GC328) with support for OpenVG 1.1, Open GL ES 3.1, Vulkan and Open CL 1.2. A MIPI-DSI interface with 4 lanes is available for the display connection.

In terms of connectivity, it offers 10/100 RGMII Ethernet, USB 2.0 device and separate USB 2.0 OTG host. In addition, 4 UARTs, QSPI, SPI, CAN, 2 I2C, 6 PWMs, I2S, MIPI-CSI and 24 GPIOs are available.

Thanks to the processor performance, memory equipment and variety of interfaces, the ROM-2620 can be used for a very wide range of applications. The two versions with different operating temperature ranges (0/60°C & -40/85°C) enable an optimized selection.

The ROM-2620 ECO system

Advantech offers a dedicated evaluation board (ROM-DK2620-F1A1E) for the direct start of development.

This allows the ROM-2620 to be accessed and used via the most common interfaces.

The ROM-2620 is supplied with Yocto Linux 4.0 (kernel 5.15.52). An image based on Yocto 4.2 (kernel 6.1.22) is also already available. The latest images and release notes are available here at Advantech.
