Epson RA8900 Automotive DTCXO RTC

Achieve high accuracy over the industrial temperature range

Munich, June 28, 2018 – Designed for precision time keeping, Epson’s RA8900 Automotive DTCXO Real-Time Clock (RTC) uses Digitally Temperature-Compensated Crystal Oscillator (DTCXO) technology to achieve ±3.4 ppm at the temperature range of -40 to +85 °C (9 s/mo.).

Despite the high accuracy, Epson’s RA8900 includes an integrated crystal and features low power of 0.7 μA (typ) backup current.

The high accuracy is essential for precise time keeping, as required by car clocks, infotainment, battery management, and other automotive applications.

To keep the time counter running even at main power failure, Epson’s RA8900 supply voltage of 2.5-5.5 V can detect the loss of main power source and automatically switch to a backup supply from a battery or supercapacitor with a supply voltage of 1.6-5.5 V.

Epson’s RA8900 is offered in a small package of 3.2 x 2.5 x 1.0 mm3 and is manufactured on a dedicated automotive line and meets all applicable automotive quality standards, including AEC-Q200 grade 3, ISO9001, and TS16949.
