There are five main time signal transmitters in the World. DCF77 transmitter is located in Germany(Mainflingen) transmitting precise time synchronization information especially for Central Europe. Depending on the sensitivity of the receiver and prevailing conditions this signal can be detected in whole Europe. Great Britain has its own MSF time-code transmitter in Anthorn covering UK. In USA the WWVB transmitter is located in Fort Collins. It`s signal covers most of the North America. Japan has two transmitters to have signal coverage including distant islands and there is a rather new transmitter in China as well.

Time Signal Receiver

The MAS6180 and MAS6181 AM-receiver chips ara a highly sensitive, simple to use AM receivers specially intended to receive time signals in the frequency range from 40kHz to 100kHz. There are only a few external components needed. The circuits have a preamplifier, wide range automatic gain control, demodulator and output comparator built in. The output signal can be processed directly with an additional digital circuitry to extract the data from the received signal. MAS6180 is for receiving single time signal frequency and MAS6181 for receiving dual time signal frequencies. MAS6181 can also be used in triple band applications.
